Changing Scenery

Howdy everyone! It is amazing how busy one can keep with a move - ugh.  Barry & I were commenting when we left the hotel that we wouldn't even be ready for a vacation next week (heading to both TCU & SMU family weekends with a short jaunt to Cabo to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary) after 8 days in a hotel, but after 2 days straight of unpacking until the wee hours of the morning I know that we will be ready to relax!

Barry got his office set up in our home and started working again yesterday. Funny that we moved all the way out here and they don't have room for him at the office! They are building a new headquarters "in town" that will hopefully be completed in December - and Barry will have office space there. It is kind of nice for me to have him home now anyway. We will hopefully have a dog to keep me company by the time he moves his office to the new location! Needless to say Barry is up to his ears in paperwork....

Actually those pictures are one of the piles of moving paper that Barry was getting ready to take to the recycling center. After I unpack everything and separate the paper into piles and flatten the boxes, Barry gets to haul it all in the car to the recycling center - fun times!  It is amazing to me how much paper they used to pack our stuff - a bit over the top I believe.  Some things that I thought of/pondered/figured out as I was unpacking all day (and night) yesterday:
  1. I am never moving again (you will have to visit me in JH and I guess that we will be renters for the rest of our lives!)
  2. They should wrap actual items in a separate colored paper than they make paper wads with - I can't tell you how many more paper wads I unwrapped than actual items.
  3. Why do they wrap one corn on the cob holder individually, instead of a pair at least.
  4. Why is one corn on the cob holder wrapped in 6 pieces of paper and my crystal only wrapped in one piece with two stems together (two wine glasses are NOT a pair - 2 corn cob holders ARE a pair!)?
  5. We have way too many "treasured items"!
  6. Basements are wonderful...we don't have one unfortunately
  7. Why are the salt and pepper shakers packed in separate boxes - can't tell you how many paper wads I went through looking for the pepper after I found the salt.
  8. Who got me started on scrapbooking and where am I going to put all of my completed albums and scrapbooking materials?
  9. Why did the only things that seemed to get damaged the new pieces of furniture/decor that we purchased?
  10.  How many place settings of Christmas china are too many? I think that I fit into that category!
  11. Why was Barry's main concern that the red on the TV was off (he could tell by the ESPN logo)?
  12. Why is unwrapping a Christmas present so much more exciting than unwrapping our long awaited "stuff"?
  13. I figured out that I am NOT a good guesser...I would play a game and try to guess what it was that I was unwrapping and was nearly always wrong. That probably explains why my SAT scores were not very good - just poor guessing skills!
  14. Why did I try to amuse myself with a guessing game for 13 hours instead of watching the world news? By the way the cable guy was able to fix the color issue - Barry is now able to function again!
As you can see my mind was kept very busy yesterday as we went through so many boxes that I can't even count! We were able to get a lot accomplished, but still have a ton to do. Here are some pictures of the changing scenery around the house:

So hopefully you can see some progress and the changes that have been taking place inside the house. This morning after I had breakfast I went to sit in my comfy chair again and enjoy the scenery outside and much to my surprise it had changed as well! Did not think about the fact that when it rains in the valley it snows in the mountains! I had to zoom in since it was kind of a cloud day, so that you could see the new view...absolutely beautiful!

We are taking the night off and heading into town for the Gallery Walk. There is a large art festival going on for the next 10 days. Tonight all of the local galleries are open and each is sponsored by a different local restaurant. Free food & wine at each gallery - we are going to see just how many galleries we can get to! Have a wonderful weekend! (GO Gators, Horned Frogs & Mustangs!!!!!)
